A SCHEME to build three new homes on land at Rarber Top Lane, Ingleton, has been refused permission by Craven District Council.
Proposed was one four bedroom home and two three-bedroom homes on a triangular piece of land next to Moorgarth Hall and currently occupied by a 'vast number of trees, many of which are protected by a Tree Preservation Order'.
The two storey buildings would have parking and garaging.
But, in refusing the application, the council said the proposal would 'result in a harmful impact upon biodiversity through loss of several protected trees without sufficient justification'.
Ingleton Parish Council objected to the plans on grounds including loss of biodiversity and loss of protected trees. The district council's own tree officer also objected to the scheme.
