SKIPTON Gala makes a triumphant return on Saturday (June 11) following a break of two years because of the pandemic.

The procession of floats and walking groups will start from the traditional place of Westmoreland Street at 1pm and make its way through the town and along Gargrave Road to the gala ground, Aireville Park.

A line up of family entertainment in the park is due to start at around 2pm following the crowning of the gala queen Emily Dollard.

Emily, and her attendants, Sophie Evans and Arya Broughton, all pupils at Embsay Primary School, have been waiting since 2019 to be crowned.

Headlining the entertainment will be the Vander Superheroes Space Wheel Show, coming to Skipton for the first time and following a packed Platinum Jubilee weekend performing the aerial stunt show to crowds across the country.

There will also be the Keighley based community Jamba Samba Band and Ambitions Gymnastics, while dinosaurs will be roaming the gala ground.

Marshall Waddington’s funfair will be on the gala field and open on the Thursday and Friday before the gala, as well as on the day itself, which will conclude with a firework display. The gala raises money for local good causes.
