WALKERS - and runners - of all abilities are being invited to take part in the 'Wharfedale Three Peaks' challenge, due to take place on Saturday, June 25.

The annual event is the main fundraiser for the Grassington based Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA) but has not been held for two years because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Those taking part can choose between three routes, all starting and finishing in Kettlewell.

The full three peaks route has been reduced to 18 miles and takes in Birks Fell, Buckden Pike and Great Whernside.

A two peaks route, Buckden Pike and Great Whernside, is 13.5 miles, while a gentler, family-friendly 'valley walk' is four and a half miles.

Registration for the routes, starting with the longest, is from 6.45am, starting at 8am, with registration for the valley walk at 9am, starting at 10am.

More than 220 people have already signed up for the event. Entry is £25 for the three peaks and two peaks and £12 for the valley walk. Entry includes parking at the start, water at checkpoints and food at the finish. Participants are asked to bring a cup for the water.

Tea, coffee and cakes will be available to buy on the field.
