A SKIPTON driver has been handed a hefty fine and penalty points after using a car without insurance.
Aykut Filiz, 40, of High Street, had the case proved in his absence at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates' Court on June 9.
The offence occurred at the junction of North Street and Russell Street, Keighley, on April 21 this year when Filiz was driving a Vauxhall Vivaro.
He was fined £760 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £76 and costs of £90.
His driving record was endorsed with eight points.
No separate penalties were awarded for driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence and driving while using a handheld mobile phone but his licence was endorsed for each offence.
The balance of £926 must be paid by June 30.
