A LAMB which had fallen down a pothole at Newby Moss, Ingleborough, was hauled back to safety by cave rescue volunteers.
A Cave Rescue Organisation team responded after a member of the public reported seeing the animal stuck in Fluted Hole at just before 4pm on Tuesday (June 21).
A spokesperson for the Clapham based Cave Rescue Organisation (CRO) said: "A member of the public reported having seen a lamb stuck down a pothole on Newby Moss and provided a grid reference for the location.
"A small team of CRO members undertook a quick search of the general area and located the lamb, marooned down Fluted Hole.
"We descended the hole on ropes and the lamb was soon captured, hauled back to the surface and returned to liberty well away from the edge of the pothole."
