HAVING now received this year's interest payment for my Skipton Building Society account, I recall with outrage how at the end of April - with SBS members facing the prospect of losing various extremities this winter due to frostbite after they run out of furniture to break up and burn to keep warm as a result of the pathetic interest they earn on their money - former SBS boss David Cutter walked away with a final bonanza pay packet for 2021 of £1,309,000, yes £1,309,000, which included a £622,000 'performance' bonus on top of his basic salary of £599,000.

That should be enough to keep his fingers and toes permanently warm in the tropical sun.

Indeed, his pay packet attracted the attention of a national newspaper which was so concerned at the amount that it sent a journalist to the SBS AGM on April 25.

And I was so appalled that I went out and bought a toy grunting pig which I have adopted as the mascot of Skipton Building Society and call Dave, and which I carry around with me to remind myself of the sickening double standards of those who call for pay restraint by ordinary people at this time of financial crisis while the fat cats at the top cannot get enough of the money trough.
