SUE Ryder Manorlands Hospice in Oxenhope has welcomed a new ward manager to its team.

Michele Corcoran, from Rochdale, brings over two decades of experience to the role and joins the hospice from Marie Curie, where she worked as an inpatient ward manager at its hospice in Liverpool.

In her new position at Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice, Michele is responsible for leading, developing and supporting staff on the 15-bed inpatient unit - where highly-skilled clinical staff provide round-the-clock assessment and specialist care combined with practical, emotional and spiritual support.

“Our Sue Ryder Nurses and healthcare staff make that extra special effort to provide a safe environment where care is very much tailored to each person and their needs,” shares Michele. “What stood out to me when I first walked through the door here was that it had such a homely feel. Everyone has been so welcoming and I feel really blessed to work here.”

Since qualifying as a nurse at Salford University in 1997, mother-of-two Michele has worked in various settings including surgical wards, district nursing, dermatology and 14 years in general practice. She also holds an Advanced Clinical Practitioner master’s degree after returning to study at Bolton University in 2014.
