THIS year’s Gargrave Open Gardens was packed full with over 600 visitors across the weekend, clutching their yellow passports, eager to tick off as many of the 28 open gardens as possible, and en route taking in the 36 quirky containers organised by Linda Hartell of the Dalesman Cafe.

The organising committee would like to thank the 80+ people involved in putting together this much-loved community event, which this year attracted people from as far away as Scarborough and Preston, making special journeys, plus an enthusiastic group of American tourists looking round the “yards” of Gargrave.

Thank you to the gardeners, the bakers, the sandwich makers, the pie-cookers, the food servers, the clearer and washers-up, the welcomers, the money handlers, the musicians, the bell ringers, the artists, the publicity team, the bunting makers, the kite lender, the networkers, the co-ordinators and the photographers.

The event surpassed its record total, raising £6,550 for St Andrew’s Church.
