THE Leeds-Morecambe Community Rail Partnership (CRP) has once again helped to provide the focus for Northern's Year In Industry students - the fourth successive year that the Bentham Line has supported the project.
The students enthusiastically and confidently presented details of their ‘Access for All’ project to a group of colleagues from Northern, including senior managers and directors, together with representatives of the CRP, on Monday, June 20, in Leeds.
The students took the theme of ‘Access for All’ and decided to focus on a number of aspects.
The first was to produce a booklet. This was followed by detailed accessibility information for each station on the Bentham Line from Heysham Port to Leeds.
The students also wanted to ensure that there would be some infrastructure improvements. With support from the CRP, new access signage at Bentham, Long Preston and Shipley was commissioned and is now in place.
