AMERICAN Independence Day has been marked today by Barlick Yarn Fairies who have created a topper to mark the July 4 date.

The anonymous crocheting duo also celebrated an event nearer to home when they crocheted bunting of bacon and eggs and bread with ketchup to mark the 15th anniversary of Barlick Bites trading.

The creation was greatly received and now has pride of place in the shop.

At the weekend Barlick had a 'Day of Dance' event and the yarn fairies busily created two morris dancing mice which they added to the brass band topper outside the post office.

Quite apt, as Barnoldswick Brass Band was opening the dance event so all the boxes were ticked.

Last night the fairies were out once again, under cover of darkness to keep their identities secret, to place their American Independence Day topper as a nod to all those who have relatives living in the USA.
