THE owner of this Mercedes is facing a hefty bill after it was damaged while parked at Burnsall yesterday (Tuesday).

The car, which was removed yesterday evening, was parked in a narrow part of the road which clearly wasn't wide enough for larger vehicles to pass and there are a lot of delivery wagons and farm machinery which has to use that road.

You can see there is damage almost along the whole length of the car from the bumper to the back quarter and the door mirror is hanging off, too. It will have been a costly day out for the owner who was most probably a visitor to the beauty spot near the River Wharfe on what turned out to be the hottest day on record in the UK and was in the late 30 degrees in Craven.

It wasn't the only car parked along that stretch of road so we don't know if others were damaged, but the message with the submitted picture was that it was very narrow at that spot.

Clearly the message here is, if you want to visit areas of the Dales, remember there are a lot of large vehicles around using the roads and lanes at the moment and your prized possession is at risk.

Burnsall has seen a massive influx of visitors over this recent spell of lovely weather as too has other beauty spots in the district.

As well as blocked roads and bad parking, littering has been a big problem with visitors leaving piles of waste behind instead of taking it back home.

Some Burnsall residents have been taking it upon themselves to go down to the river in the evenings to pick up the detritus which is far and above their remit, often not finishing until after dark.
