FOODIES are in for a treat with a two day food and drink festival due to take place in Skipton on Saturday, August 13 and on Sunday, August 14.

The event - a first for the town and taking place in the Canal Basin - will celebrate all things food and drink. Both days there will be a selection of food stalls offering hot and cold food and showcasing the best Skipton has to offer; while on the Sunday, there will also be 'Real Food Skipton' on the High Street, featuring local and speciality producers offering food, drink and crafts.

Hannah Corrigan, Skipton Town Council's events manager, said: "The foodie weekend was added to the calendar this year to support the businesses surrounding the canal basin due to the loss of the Waterway Festival from the calendar.

"The weekend will feature food and drink traders on the canal basin on both the Saturday and Sunday, with music for all to enjoy.

"The event will support businesses in the whole town, Real Food are taking over the High Street on the Sunday, and restaurants and bars are invited to promote specials all weekend and be a part of the food trail map."

Those taking part include Smokies BBQ, Yorkshire Pudding Wraps, and Stickie Piggies
