A FEMALE walker slipped and sustained a suspected broken ankle on yesterday (Sunday) afternoon as she approached the top of Malham Cove.

She was attended by a team from Cave Rescue Organisation, carried by a stretcher to a Land Rover and driven to the car park in Malham where she was taken by ambulance to hospital.

A CRO spokesperson said the 54 year old slipped on the path from Water Sinks, just before it joins the path down into ‘the Dry Valley’, leading to Malham Cove.

"A small team of CRO members walked down from Langscar Gate, administered pain relief, splinted the leg, lifted the walker onto a lightweight Titan stretcher and carried her to a team Land Rover. This took her down to Malham car park where she was transferred to a YAS road ambulance for the journey to hospital."
