A CARLETON filmmaker has escaped a driving ban under the totting up procedure after admitting speeding at Coniston Cold.
Piers Tempest, 48, of Lower Scar Farm, exceeded the 30 mph limit in a Skoda Kodiaq on April 22 this year.
Tempest, attending Harrogate Magistrates' Court on August 17, explained he was a film producer who employed 120 people and that they would lose their jobs if he lost his licence as the film would be moved to London. Magistrates were told there would be financial consequences of being sued which would affect his wife and children and that his children would not be able to continue in education.
Tempest was fined £384 with costs of £90 and a surcharge of £38. His driving record was endorsed with three points. He was given until September 14 to pay the balance of £512.
