FOUR 13-year-old school friends have triumphed in the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge by completing the walk in under 12 hours and raising over £1,000 for the Cancer Research UK charity.
Jess Oakey, Evie Child, Tilly Smith and Laney Allen are all pupils at Settle College and as the end of the school holidays approached, wanted to raise money for the charity as it’s something close to all of them.
They came up with the idea of a walk and decided to challenge themselves with the Yorkshire Three Peaks.
They were accompanied all the way by Tilly’s dad and Bob the spaniel and supported by family and friends along the route.
Evie's mum, Clare, said it was a challenging walk for them all but they showed resilience and determination. She said: "They had fun and kept smiling all the way. They set their fundraising target at £500 and have so far raised over £1,100."
