DEPUTY mayor of Skipton Sheila Bentley joined Pendle MP Andrew Stephenson and other civic dignitaries for an open day of the Pendle, Burnley, Craven, and Rossendale Samaritans.
Held in Nelson, it was an opportunity to learn more about what Samaritans do, how the branch works, and talk to volunteers about their experience as listeners, as well as enjoy a cup of tea and a slice of cake.
Every year, thousands of people die from suicide in England, and rates in England are as high now as they were 20 years ago. The charity’s listening volunteers are there to support anyone who needs to talk, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Telephone 116 123, email jo@samaritans.org or visit www.samaritans.org.
