THE Voices of Yorkshire choir has released its debut album ‘From T’Top’ and has a concert coming up at Skipton Town Hall on Saturday, October 15.

Over the years the choir has raised thousands of pounds for various charities. This time the album and concert hope to raise money for mental health charities. There are over 250 members of the choir when they all come together for events such as these.

From T’Top is now available to download on all major streaming platforms, including Spotify, iTunes and Amazon Music.

Proceeds from the album sales will be donated to ‘It’s Worth Talking About’ a local non-for-profit volunteer led peer support service supporting people struggling with their mental health. Voices of Yorkshire is made up of seven choirs across the local area, with approximately 350 members and counting, ageing from 16 to 98.

Singing is great for wellbeing and for maintaining good mental health, which is why the choir has aligned with ‘It’s Worth Talking About’ for this project. Lots of its members join Voices of Yorkshire as strangers and meet life long friends at the sessions, performances and social events.

Making positive connections whilst having fun singing is what it’s all about, the organisers say. The choir was in the studio for almost nine hours of recording. As always they put their heart and soul into the process and that can be heard on the tracks.

The choir is proud of what its member have achieved. Without them, none of this is possible and they are delighted to have been able to deliver this project and feel incredibly fortunate to have worked with the wonderfully talented Andy Thornton who recorded and produced the album for them.

He is said to have ‘pulled out all the stops’ and really went the extra mile to turn the idea into something very special.

Grateful thanks have also been extended to Jam on Top Studios, in Keighley, where the album was recorded in July. The album is made up of eight songs, including, Human originally by the Killers, From Now On from The Greatest Showman and What’s Up originally by the 4 Non Blondes.

Voices of Yorkshire currently run sessions in Bingley and Pudsey on Mondays, Skipton and Menston on Tuesdays, Oakworth and Yeadon on Wednesdays and Silsden on a Thursday. All sessions are in the evening. ‘It’s Worth Talking About’ can be contacted at: www.itsworthtalkingabout.org or call 07706 024336.
