A SPOOKY free new augmented reality Halloween trail is up and running in Skipton with people invited to join in the adventures of Wanda the witch and be in with a chance of winning some great prizes.

The LoyalFree app, in partnership with Skipton Business Improvement District (BID) and running until the end of the month, invites families armed with their smartphones to find out about forgetful witch Wanda and her cat, Wicca. Wicca is missing and to find her Wanda must create a potion - but Wanda’s potion cupboard is bare.

As participants follow the trail, scanning the QR codes at each 'spooky' location, they will be entered into a prize draw to win two Halloween hampers, including a selection of a £50 food voucher for The Narrowboat, afternoon tea for two at the Cake ‘Ole, a box of cakes from Elsworth Kitchen along with a selection of gifts from Teddy Boutique, Strange Games, Cool Cards and Gifts, Lighthouse Lane and Myrtle and Webb. The more QR codes scanned, the more chances of winning.

The trail brings the story to life with a mixture of video and augmented reality. Participants can expect to see floating potion ingredients appear magically in front of them when using their smartphone camera.

Participants can also share their photos on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter and use the hashtag #LFHALLOWEENHUNT and tag @WelcometoSkipton for a chance to be entered into an additional national competition to win a pair of Samsung Galaxy Buds Live Wireless Earphones.

Sarah Howsen, Skipton BID Manager said: "We are really excited to bring an augmented reality trail to Skipton. The trail provides a fantastic opportunity to get families out and about in the half term holidays spending quality time together. By offering a free trail it means everyone can have fun and all you need is your smartphone. Skipton BID look forward to continuing to support our local business with these new exciting initiatives."

LoyalFree’s Partnerships Manager, Sophie Carrick added: "LoyalFree is thrilled to be rolling out our first augmented reality trail. The technology is cutting edge and offers a tremendous opportunity for local promotion. The trails are free of charge and represent a great free day out for families.
