PEOPLE in Pendle are invited to pay their respects to those who lost their lives in the first and second world wars and in other conflicts around the world.

On Armistice Day, Friday November 11, residents can join a two-minute silence to pay their respects to those who lost their lives at war.

A short service will start at 10.45am at the cenotaph between Nelson Library and Nelson Town Hall and a bugler will mark the beginning and end of the two-minute silence.

All are welcome to join councillors at services of commitment and Remembrance and wreath laying ceremonies across the borough on Remembrance Sunday (November 13).

On Remembrance Sunday, ceremonies are taking place across the borough, including in Barnoldswick, Earby, Foulridge, Laneshaw Bridge and Salterforth.

Full details on the Remembrance Sunday parades and services are on Pendle Council’s website www.pendle.gov.uk/remembrance

Councillor Yasser Iqbal, Mayor of Pendle said: “Remembrance Sunday is a day of great significance for so many people.

“People across Pendle are welcome to join us in remembering the brave men and women who have lost their lives in the service of our country.”
