SETTLE is re-affirming its title of 'poetry capital of Craven' with a series of events taking place over the next couple of weeks.

First there were the 'poetry posters', which ran throughout October and featured 55 poems by 16 poets in a variety of shops and businesses in the town.

Next up, is a book launch at Settle Community Library on Thursday, November 25. Author Sarah Littlefeather Demick will be launching her book of poems, entitled Being the One at 11am. The poems are inspired by her work as a carer with people with dementia. The book is published by Naked Eye, and the event is free.

The following evening, November 25, at 7.30 pm in The Folly, Settle Sessions presents 'Poetry of the Open Air'.

Jean Atkin, whose mother was born in Settle, is a hill-walker from Shropshire, and Nancy Campbell has been a 'canal laureate'. Tickets are available for £6 from Limestone Books or at the door on the night.

Finally, on December 9 at the Quaker Meeting House at 7.30pm, two pamphlets by local poets will be launched: On the Edge by Trisha Robinson and The Beholder's Eye by Rosalind Parkes, both first publications. The publisher is Fisherrow, and the event is free.
