POLICE are warning people to keep away from frozen water after a dog fell through the ice at Foulridge Reservoir.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "With the cold weather looking like it is here to stay, we wanted to make a heart-felt plea to parents, friends and families.
"Following the tragic loss of life in Solihull over the weekend, where four young boys fell through frozen ice, we're asking the public to educate their loved ones about the dangers of open water, particularly when frozen.
"By lunchtime on Tuesday we’d already been called to two incidents - one a report of a group of young people playing on a frozen lake in Stanley Park and another where a dog had fallen through the ice at Foulridge Reservoir. Luckily, both the young people and the dog are ok.
"Our thoughts are with all those affected by the terrible tragedy in Solihull."
