CHILDREN at Boyle and Petyt Primary School, Beamsley, reversed the advent tradition by giving instead of receiving in the run-up to Christmas.
They donated an item of food for every day of advent, right up until the end of term, and on the last day, the collection was taken to the Skipton Food Bank to help with its Christmas appeal.
Headteacher, Charity Orviss, said: "The generosity of our families is outstanding. They embraced this appeal by donating a wide variety of items to support the amazing work that is carried out by the Skipton Food Bank."
The school has also been busy fundraising to sponsor a child through the charity Educate the Kids.
In 2021, the children were visited by an ambassador from Educate the Kids and they organised a series of fundraising activities to raise sufficient money to sponsor a child for a year.
Earlier this month, the children organised a bake sale and a movie and ice-cream afternoon which means the school can commit to another year of funding.
