A CHARITY cake bake at Skipton’s High Corn Mill has boosted the money raised for charity by businessman Andrew Mear to nearly £800.

Held in aid of Parkinson’s UK, the lunchtime fundraiser was supported by tenants at the mill along with a steady stream of visitors to its shops, services and the historic waterwheel. In addition to cakes, coffee and mulled wine, merchandise featuring the mill and celebrity camper van, Skippy, was on sale.

Mr Mears, whose property portfolio includes the medieval mill, said: “In total the cake bake event, Christmas market and sales of the new merchandise have raised £790.

“For a bitterly cold day we were really pleased with the turnout – and once again amazed by the generosity of people who were quick to support the cause.

“Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition and the charity is committed to funding pioneering research to find a cure and offer personalised support services. My own grandfather suffered with the condition which is why I have become such a big supporter in recent years.”
