A DECISION on the planned extension of a caravan park in West Craven has been put on ice so councillors can see the site for themselves.
Plans to create 61 new caravan pitches and build a new amenity block at Lower Greenhill Farm, Kelbrook Road in Salterforth, were recommended for approval at an area meeting of Pendle Council.
Yesterday (Tuesday), Ian Swain, agent for the applicants, Mr and Mrs Hudson, told the West Craven Committee at its meeting in Barnoldswick, that the scheme was an extension of what was already there and would add to the tourism offer in the area.
Visitors would also patronise local businesses, giving a boost to the West Craven economy he told councillors, adding that the location of the new pitches had been carefully chosen so they could be screened with new planting, and that there had been no objections from statutory consultees.
Councillors however decided they wanted a site visit before coming to a decision and deferred the application until the next meeting.
In the officers report to the committee, members were recommended to approve the application. It stated: "The proposed extension of the caravan site would constitute sustainable development and subject to necessary conditions is acceptable in terms of visual and landscape impacts, residential amenity, highway safety, impact on ecology and drainage."
