A SILSDEN man is involved in an initiative aimed at inspiring a new generation of young poets.
David Driver is part of the first ever West Yorkshire Poetry Week.
The National Literacy Trust and West Yorkshire Combined Authority are spearheading the venture, which will run from March 20 to 24 – and incorporate World Poetry Day, on Tuesday, March 21.
Primary and secondary schools across the region are being encouraged to take part.
There will be a host of free activities, and each school will be invited to select a laureate who could then become West Yorkshire's first Young Poet Laureate.
Mr Driver, a writer, poet and broadcaster, says: "Poetry is one of my creative outlets. It can give people a voice, a platform and confidence.
"I'm very excited and honoured to be part of this wonderful opportunity and would encourage schools to sign up."
