THE new roundabout on the A629 is frankly dangerous to turn right onto Wyvern Road. The circle is so small the vast majority of drivers going straight ahead simply stay straight instead of following the circle, cutting into the right hand lane.

I have had multiple near misses as people stray across the lanes and have seen others - plus there were accidents on it before it was even officially open.

Will the council investigate and force a redesign before there are more accidents?

North Yorkshire County Council area highways manager Hannah Benson said: "The roundabout on the A629 was constructed by ESH Construction on behalf of Henry Boot Developments to the required design standard. In the coming months, it will undergo its final road safety audit. This will consider any history of collisions in the vicinity, and concerns highlighted by users will be raised with the auditors."

“If the audit identifies any issues, these will be addressed by the developer.

“If anyone has concerns about the condition or safety of the road, they can report them on our website, www.northyorks.gov.uk/report-online, or contact the highways office at Area5.Skipton@northyorks.gov.uk.”
