NINE-year-old Megan Davies has been chosen to be this year's Skipton gala queen.

A pupil of Skipton Parish School Megan loves attending brownies, ballet and swimming. She was selected by judges at an event held at Hotel Rendezvous on Sunday, March 12.

Organiser Michelle Marren said this year was exceptionally hard to select just one because of the high standard of the applicants, but everyone is sure Megan will do you all proud. Megan's attendants will be Olive Bland, 10, who attends Embsay Primary School, Caoimhe Docherty, 7, who attends Greatwood School and Pageboy Max Thornton, 6, who also attends Skipton Parish School. This year's gala is on Saturday, June 10 where Megan will be crowned by the town mayor. Her other duties include representing Skipton at both Colne and Silsden galas, handing out prizes at various events, and laying a wreath at Skipton's war memorial on remembrance Sunday.
