Rector’s message: This Sunday is Mothering Sunday. It is traditionally a Sunday when we lighten the Lenten fast and give thanks for mothers and our Mother Church at the same time. We remember particularly today all those who are mothers to children, in whatever form, and give thanks for all the work they do and for all their work which is so often unseen. Their service, support and nourishment greatly enriches all our lives. We also give thanks for our Mother Church. For all the support She provides. We give thanks that she welcomes her children with open arms and provides solace, comfort, guidance and support.

St Cuthbert’s Lecture: This year’s lecture is taking place on Saturday 18th March at 4.30 pm in the Priory. The lecturer is Peter Oborne who is speaking on ‘The Fate of Abraham: Why the West is Wrong About Islam’. Peter Oborne will argue that the West has deliberately misrepresented Islam. His premise is that many in senior positions in governments across the West have suggested that Islam is trying to overturn our liberal values and are even conspiring to take over the State. Based on his own rigorous historical research and forensic contemporary journalism in war-torn states, Peter Oborne will explain the myths and fabrications that have contributed to this pernicious state of affairs. He shows how various falsehoods run deep, reaching back as far as the birth of Islam, and have then been repurposed for modern day political ends. Please park in the village car park, free of charge for Priory events, and leave the limited parking to those less able.
