DANCE Company Tamar and Jo will be at Skipton Town Hall on Friday, April 21 with its hilarious show Sync or Swim.

The show, which is brought to venues via Rural Arts rural touring scheme, joins two synchronised swimmers on a tightly choreographed yet slightly bizarre day at the seaside – towels, deck chairs, chips and sun cream all becoming part of the routine.

The piece started life as part of the company’s 'doorstep dances' project, which took more than 600 five-minute performances to doorsteps, streets and public spaces across Hull during the pandemic. After the overwhelmingly positive response to the vibrant and comedic Sync or Swim, the duo decided to develop it into a longer show and to take it on a national tour.

With this tour, the company will also deliver Tamar and Jo style bingo, which promises some fittingly silly prizes as well as song, dance and even a chance to join in with some moves.

The Hull-based dance company, made up of Tamar Draper and Jo Ashbridge, has previously performed with Green Man Festival, Sheffield Theatres, Barnsley Civic, Yorkshire Dance, and worked with artists including leading UK choreographer Lea Anderson.

The show is suitable and enjoyable for audiences of all ages, though is geared slightly more towards adults with some of its humour. Jo Ashbridge said: “We are extremely excited to premier the newly developed Sync or Swim through our tour with Rural Arts, it’s always been a fun piece to perform but with this longer version we have stepped everything up a notch – the moves, the comedy, and the absurdity."

Sync or Swim at Skipton Town Hall on April 21 is at 7pm. Visit: www.skiptontownhall.co.uk
