AN impressive £900 is to be handed over to The Two Ridings Community Foundation thanks to fundraising in the last year of Craven District Council.

The authority's chair Councillor Simon Myers, chose the foundation as his charity for his year in office, the last year before the council ceased to exist at the end of March, to be replaced by the new North Yorkshire Council.

Cllr Myers said: “Many are experiencing hardship due to the cost of living crisis and the money raised will enable community groups to help those in need. I would like to thank everyone who contributed, including those who took part in the charity swim, those who donated to the raffle and bought raffle tickets, and those who contributed directly."

Jan Garrill, chief executive for The Two Ridings Community Foundation said: “The funds raised, thanks to Cllr Myers and others efforts, will go directly to local community groups in the Craven area who are giving support to local people struggling with the cost of living crisis. It will fund practical things like food or fuel vouchers or simply a warm cup of tea and a friendly face at a local warm space. All vital needs right now."
