THE secret Barlick Yarn Fairies were out incognito again over the weekend as they draped knitted and crocheted bunting around Barnoldswick and crafted crocheted toppers for other villages.

The Fairies are a pair or friends who work in secret to bring smiles to the faces of residents and passers by through crocheted pillar box toppers and other creations made to mark a variety of special occasions.

For the coronation the pair got cracking a while ago to prepare for the event.

One of the Fairies said they had asked people in the community to get involved by knitting and crocheting bunting for them.

One said: "We were amazed at how much people had made.  On Friday evening we went out armed with loads of threaded bunting and placed them around our town. We made two crown toppers, one is in situ at the post box outside the old post office, near the civic hall, the other is at Bolton abbey. We've made a Union Jack topper that is outside Rolls Royce, and the castle and bandsmen are back out again, along with the King and Queen, outside Mario's on gisburn road.

"We have also added a crown onto the postbox in Thornton-in-Craven, along with some bunting that the local craft group made for us."
