CARLETON villagers came out in support to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III and Camilla, Queen Consort.

And central to the bank holiday weekend was the creation of a celebration arch - once a popular feature of towns and villages across the country since Victorian times to mark coronations, jubilees, galas and other events.

Over the weekend, there was a screening of the coronation itself on a big screen in the village hall, a quiz, a coronation party night, a street party and big breakfast. Then, Carleton came out in force for a village photograph under the coronation arch.

A spokesperson for organisers, said: "Thanks are needed to Skipton Scaffolding and Skipton Hire Centre for help with the building of the arch as well as a small army of people for decorating it. And also to photographer, Malcolm Stoney, who braved the 'cherry picker' to get a fabulous shot."
