FIREFIGHTERS are reminding people to be considerate when parking in narrow streets so access can be maintained at all times for emergency vehicles.
On Sunday night, May 28, at 9.09pm, the Settle crew was called out to investigate a report of smoke in the Airton area. On arrival, the crew confirmed this to be just controlled burning being carried out by a local resident.
However, while the incident turned out to be a false alarm with good intentions, the crew was slowed en route by cars parked in the narrow Victoria Street, in Upper Settle, meaning the fire engine had to inch past to avoid any damage.
The station left the message on its social media platform: "Please be considerate when parking, leaving access for our large emergency vehicles."
