AN artist who only took up painting in his 70s is staging an exhibition of his work at Barnoldswick Library.
John Hannay, who is now 83, said he was inspired to start painting in 2016 when his son gave him a set of watercolours. "I went to classes in Barnoldswick Library and have hardly put a brush down since," he said.
John paints landscapes and nature in both watercolour and acrylic. About 40 of his paintings are on show at Barnoldswick Library until Friday, June 23.
Barnoldswick Library, in Fern Lea Avenue, is open Monday to Saturday and closed on Sundays. It is home to a number of groups and activities, including Lego Club, on Saturday mornings, Baby, Bounce and Rhyme on Thursday mornings, and 'let's play real games' - a group for people who like traditional board games - on Wednesday afternoons.
