FOLLOWING news of local authority-run Gargrave care home, Neville House, closing in autumn, Craven is also to lose Anchor-run care home Thornton Hill, in Thornton in Craven.

Residents and staff are moving to newly built The Mill House care home, in Sackville Street, Skipton, when it opens in July.

Recruitment for staff at The Mill House, which has recently won an award for its development and design, is ongoing as finishing touches are being made to the landscaping and outdoor areas.

The Mill House will provide beds for 86 residents as well as eight supported living apartments. The complex will provide residents with luxury amenities including an in-house hair and beauty salon, a fully equipped café bar and terraced gardens.

It is unclear how many residents are currently living at Thornton Hill.

Residents and colleagues from Thornton Hill care home will be moving to The Mill House in Skipton, a brand-new purpose-built care home with beautiful surroundings and equipped with modern facilities.

"We are involving residents and their loved ones at each stage in the process and are exploring options for the future use of the Thornton Hill site.”
