GRASSINGTON'S town crier Bob Kendall was named 'best-dressed' at The Loyal Company of Town Criers British Championships in Halifax on Saturday (July 1) where he also picked up the public choice award.
Elizabeth Anderson-Watson, representing Barnoldswick, was placed third in the contest while the current British champion, Terry Ford from Otley, retained his title. Paul Gough from Nuneaton and Bedworth, was the runner-up.
Held at the Woolshops Shopping Centre, 10 criers from around the country, each performed two cries in front of the appreciative crowd.
The morning saw them carry out their 'home cry' - promoting the area where they come from; followed in the afternoon with a themed cry - on the subject of 'what makes me happy'.
