SKIPTON Music has announced the lineup for its next season of concerts, which starts in September and runs until March, 2024.

Following on from last season's highly successful 75th anniversary series, the society has high hopes for the six concerts, which will begin with Skipton soprano Bibi Heal and guitarist Amanda Cook in an 'in the round' concert at Skipton Town Hall.

Frank Finlay, chair of Skipton Music, said: “ I am hugely excited about the launch of our new season and I am really looking forward to be what promises to be six fascinating and highly enjoyable concerts.

"Last year's special anniversary season which showcased the work of women composers was a great success. Not only were we able to build back attendance to the levels last seen before the world changed in March 2020, our wonderful audiences, which included many new people, were treated to world-class performances and showed how much they enjoyed hearing new or lesser-known work alongside old favourites.

"For 2023-2024 we're delighted once again to be welcoming internationally renowned artists and 'rising star' performers in six concerts which feature an impressive array of strings, brass and woodwind as well as voice, piano and more recorders than you are ever likely to see.

"The repertoire is equally varied with music from Bach to Britten, Dowland to Debussy, Clara Schumann to Kurt Weill, together with living composers such as Clarice Assad, Mogens Andresen and Valerie Coleman."

He added: "Buying a season ticket offers a substantial saving over the cost of single tickets, and I am pleased that in these inflationary times, we've been able to keep all ticket prices the same as last season, with considerable reductions for children and young people under 30."

The opening concert takes place on September 26 at Skipton Town Hall with Skipton based soprano Bibi Heal and guitarist Amanda Cook in a concert which takes place ‘in the round’ with the artists performing at ground-floor level.

The season continues with the winner of the 2022 BBC Young Musician keyboard final Ethan Loch.
