RESIDENTS and businesses in Settle have been going potty over flowerpots for a whole decade now and are gearing up for a special anniversary showing.

The much anticipated flowerpot festival, now in its 10th year, gets underway next week with trails and scores of elaborate creations made from flowerpots for visitors to look out for.

Visitors come from far and wide to view the eye-poppingly intricate designs depicting people, animals, hot topics in the news and other goings on.

Some creations raise eyebrows, some cause puzzlement, but they all raise smiles and are seen by many thousands of people each year.

We are carrying an anniversary feature showing someof the creations in next week's Herald so be sure to get a copy.

For those planning to go along for themselves the festival is on from July 15 to September 3.

There will be optional trail quiz sheets covering three different trails.

The sponsor of the 2023 festival is Watershed Mill Visitor Centre, which has generously provided space dubbed 'The Potting Shed' where many of the displays have been made and which hosts flowerpot workshops for children run throughout August on Tuesday and Saturday mornings. These must be pre-booked due to their popularity.
