A PRIOR notification application for the erection of an agricultural storage building in Church Road, Thornton-in-Craven, has been refused by North Yorkshire Council.
The council rejected the application - made under general permitted development, for the site, to the west of New Laithe Cottage and has told the applicant that a planning application will be required.
A planning officer's report states that the new, proposed building is considered necessary for the purposes of agriculture, but fails to meet requirements of permitted development in that the proposal is situated in a parcel of land that is less than a hectare.
The report concludes: "The proposal is not permitted development so the works cannot awfully take place. An application for full planning permission is required."
