SETTLE College continues to report outstanding achievements by its students in their A levels and vocational qualifications.

The small secondary school provides a 'high quality of education' with this year's students off to continue their studies in a range of subjects including history, sports science, film and geography.

Head boy, Billy Arber, who achieved As in geography, history and his EPQ, and an A star in English Literature, is going to study history at Oxford University.

Tilly McKibben, who has spent her A-level years racing competitively on the continent in cycling, has achieved grades B in psychology, history and PE, is going on to study sport and exercise science at Durham University.

Annabelle Pettifer is going on to study at Leeds Arts University where she will study film making having achieved A star in photography, a B in history, a C in her EPQ and also achieved the Gold Arts Award securing 16 UCAS points as well as achieving a grade eight in singing.

Tabitha Brown is heading to Durham University to study geography having achieved grades A in biology, psychology and geography and a grade B in English literature.

Other notable performances says the school come from Harry Savile with an A in geography, B in history and a distinction star in business.

Harry, who is off to Lancaster University, said: “Settle has improved me as a person, I have been inspired by the teachers and thankful for the support of the school.”

Also heading to Lancaster University is Callen Ward, who achieved a distinction star in IT, a grade A in physics and a B grade in maths. He is looking forward to studying computer science at Lancaster.

Gareth Whitaker, headteacher said: “Knowing our students individually is testament to their achievements, providing for all no matter what, enables them to be the best they can be, the students have worked exceptionally hard to achieve these results and the elation has been infectious this morning handing out results.

A heartfelt thank you also goes from me to all the staff for going above and beyond, ensuring everyone is catered for."

Head of sixth form and assistant headteacher, Simon Murphy, who is leaving the school before the new term  to be closer to home for his family, said: "All students should be proud of how they have done considering that they were impacted by Covid disruption in their GCSE examination years.

"Having not sat formal examinations before, they coped with these A-levels demands admirably”.
