SKIPTON Railway Station looks set to get new customer information screens to replace its old 'life-expired' ones.
Northern Trains has applied to North Yorkshire Council to replace all six existing screens at the station in Broughton Road.
In a design and access statement, Northern says: "As part of the Northern Trains Customer Information Screens Replacement Programme, Skipton station is due to have upgrades to the screens around the station. There will be replacement screens located on platforms one to four as well as the booking hall, to give additional information about train arrival times for those platforms.
"The reason for this proposal is to enhance the customer experience whilst using the station and to increase reliability of the information screens."
It adds: "The TX Series displays are ideal for passenger information, notices, operational and disruption information in bright outdoor locations. The displays are capable of delivering any information such as general information, images, videos and advertising."
An application to provide tactile safety strips to the edges of platforms at the station has been given the go-ahead by the council. The station buildings and associated canopies are grade two listed as being of special architectural or historic interest.
