THE organiser of Ingleton Horse Show and Gymkhana has declared this year's event a great success - and the best yet.

More than 100 horses and ponies and their owners took part in the event, which was held at the larger venue of Lawsings Brow, Keasden, after it outgrew its original site.

With its stunning backdrop of Penyghent and Ingleborough, the event saw high numbers of people from across the area entering the horse classes, including in-hand, and jumping, fancy dress and mounted games. There was also a well attended charity dog show.

The honour of supreme champion in the horse section went to Gillian Ridding and her horse Deepgyhll Lucky Touch, while Megan Tomlinson and her mount, Eltair taking the reserve rosette.

Gillian, who bought Lucky in 2017, said: "We made a come back after some time away from showing and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves everyone was so friendly, it was such a well run event."

A 'horse and hound' competition was held for the first time and was won by the 'speed sister' team of Amy Wallbank riding Prince and Emma Wallbank with her Jack Russell, Rosie.

The fancy-dress competition was closely fought, with entrants carrying out a grand parade inspired by Toy Story, Barbie, Batman, Bride and Groom and Save the Ocean.

In the dog section, best in show went to Grayson Leach with five month old pointer, Florence, and reserve went to Coco Quinn with Martha, a 14 year old rescue Jackapoo.

Local businesses and organisations also attended with stalls and many others also donated prizes for class winners.

Show organiser, Adele Horner, thanked all those who helped out, those who entered and the sponsors: She said: "We would like to thank everyone once again for supporting this year's show , the show is run annually by volunteers raising money for various charities this year the chosen charities were the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and The Cave Rescue Organisation, we can not wait to send money across to them.

"None of this would be possible without the support from our sponsors and the generous donations of prizes, this show has been truly the best one yet."
