SKIPTON Film Club will present the Spanish film Alcarras at the Plaza Cinema at 5.15pm on Sunday, October 1.

Directed by Carla Simon, the film is set in rural Catalan, and follows a family of peach farmers who suddenly find their way of life under threat from modernity and the forces of capital. It is a portrait of a family of three generations shot through with brilliantly observed humanity.

Taking her lead from the Italian Neo -Realists, Carla Simon uses predominantly non-professional actors – giving the film an authenticity that only adds to the drama and makes the experience a very moving one for the audience. Alcarras won the top prize at the Berlin Film Festival and was Spain’s entry at this year’s Oscars.

Members and non-members welcome. Further information about the club's season of films on Facebook and Instagram.
