GET ready for dirt swing, hokum and old blues tunes at Settle Victoria Hall this weekend as Dead Mans Uke drops in for a Yorkshire Dales Ukulele Weekender.

Hosted by the two man Dead Mans Uke, the weekend will include workshops, a gala show on the Saturday (November 4) and open mic events.

Saturday evening's event will feature comedy magician John Archer, described by Simon Cowell as 'Amazing', and by David Walliams as a 'superstar'; and the five piece band Warehouse of Thieves - a band that blends progressive rock, contemporary folk, and indie sounds into its original music.

The line-up also includes Phil Doleman, who performs vintage blues, swing, and jug band music; and Big Buddy Holly and The Croquettes.

Described as 'part tribute, part parody', Big Buddy Holly, 'The Hiccupping Hillbilly, Ukulele Sensation' with his loyal and crusty backing band, The Croquettes promises to perform Rock ‘n’ Roll with a 'barnyard full of tongue in cheek and a trailer full of smiles'.

Workshops get underway on Friday with a strum-along and quiz with Big Buddy Holly and The Croquettes; there will be more workshops on the Saturday ahead of the gala show, and more workshops on the Sunday. Workshops will include sessions on how to improve your uke and understand the impact of different strings. There will also be a session hosed by Mel Day, part of Dead Mans Uke, on playing the harmonica.
