STAFF and children at Gargrave Primary School were joined by author Katie Daynes together with representatives from charities and organisations to officially open ‘The Hopkins Library’.
Katie talked about her love of books and unveiled a plaque and cut the ribbon. The year 6 children then invited visitors to look around the library.
Olive Hopkins was a volunteer at school, listening to children read and teaching them to knit. Following a kind bequest from Mrs Hopkins, the school was able to build a purpose-built library in the school grounds, an inspiring space for the children of Gargrave today and in the future.
As well as the bequest from Mrs Hopkins, grants towards the project were received from charities and organisations including Gargrave & Malhamdale Community Library, Skipton Mechanics Institute, Skipton Rotary, The Duke of Devonshire Charitable Trust, The Sands family, and Gargrave Primary School PTA.
The library is now ready for the children to enjoy.
