A FURTHER eight glamping pods have been granted permission to be added to an existing holiday accommodation business as demand continues to grow.

Hedgerow Luxury Glamping, adjacent to Knot Lane, Horton, between Gisburn and West Marton, has been providing glamping accommodation since 2019.

The business, run by the Berry family alongside the family's nearby dairy farm, Hoober Farm, was originally granted permission for six holiday pods as they first established their business.

A planning statement to Ribble Valley Borough Council read: “The demand for holiday accommodation of the type proposed has significantly grown during recent years, because of the recent restrictions upon foreign travel, the desire for ‘staycation’ type holidays, and the popularity of weekend or ‘mini breaks’ in secluded areas of the countryside.

“The proven success of their business to date has confirmed that the demand for visitor accommodation of this nature, in this area, is strong. The small scale of the proposals also accords with the constraints being experienced by holidaymakers by reason of affordability."

Conditions linked to permission include the pods' restriction to holiday use. The owners must also maintain an up-to-date register of the names of all occupiers and of their main home addresses.
