POLICE have been given reports of a person or persons deliberately damaging food which has been donated to a food bank.

North Yorkshire Police said the food bank at a church in Settle is located in a cupboard in the porch.

A police spokesman said: "The food is donated by parishioners and can be accessed by anyone in need. The food is being ruined. Packets are emptied out, milk poured away, tins crushed - or opened - and fingers stuck in bread."
