POLICE in Craven are appealing for information after two empty homes in Settle were broken into.
The break-ins to houses in Falcon Close and in Longdale Avenue have only just been discovered as both had been unoccupied for several weeks while their elderly residents had been in care or hospital. It is believed the incidents happened sometime between December 8 and December 12.
A rear, ground-floor window was smashed on one of the properties, and on the other it was a rear, patio-door, glass panel.
Officers have also asked people to be aware of empty houses where they live and to report any suspicious behaviour, and also to keep an eye on elderly or vulnerable neighbours.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on the non emergency 101, and quote incident number 12230237252.
