CAVE Rescue Organisation was called out for the first time this year on Sunday afternoon to help a 61 year old woman who had injured herself while walking at Middle High Hill, Settle.
A spokesperson for the Clapham based CRO said: "North Yorkshire Police called the team to assist a walker who had fallen on a steep and slippery hillside, injuring her left ankle.
"Team members fortuitously out on a walk and just 100m away provided initial casualty care and used their jackets to keep the casualty warm. When more team members attended with equipment the casualty was assessed, placed in an insulated “cas bag”, and sledged on a stretcher down to a team all terrain vehicle. She was then taken back to Settle for onward transportation to hospital."
