SKIPTON Building Society's charitable foundation has donated £32,797 to Yorkshire-based charities in 2023.

Throughout 2023, its 'largest year of donations since its records began', the foundation supported 18 charities across Yorkshire from supporting the homeless, baby banks to vulnerable children.

Nationally, it gave out £457,481 to 230 charities last year - a 54 per cent increase from 2022’s donation of £295,233.26.

Alison Davies, Chair of the Foundation, said: “It has been a big year for the foundation. We have received the largest number of applications and seen our biggest annual donation to charities since its creation.. We have even reached the milestone of £3 million donated over almost 24 years. It’s clear that the economic environment continues to be a challenge for the charity sector and that’s been reflected in this year’s influx of requests.”

The Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation was founded in 2000 and to date, has donated more than £3 million to charities across the UK. Skipton Building Society, part of the Skipton Group, makes an annual payment to the charitable foundation to fund all the donations. Funding applications are invited four times a year, with the next meeting taking place in March 2024.
